COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

WTVM News Leader 9 Vice President and General Manager Lee Brantley announced Thursday that he and his wife Lin will retire later this year.

"It is with mixed emotions that I am announcing the retirement of Lee Brantley," said Raycom Media Group Vice President of Television Brad Streit. "Lee has built a team on respect and candor - not to mention building WTVM as the market leader. We at Raycom are grateful to Lee for everything he has done to make WTVM a success. And I am also grateful that he has agreed to remain on duty until July 31 so that we can insure the best possible leadership transition."

Lee began his career at WCOV-TV in Montgomery and worked for Auburn University, AFLAC broadcast Group and Raycom Media. Lee has been General Manager at WTVM since 1995. Lee's career spans nearly 44 years as a broadcaster.

"Lin and I have had a great career and we have worked for some great companies that have allowed us to be a part of some phenomenal activities," said Lee. "We have truly been blessed and are thankful for the support of great co-workers over the years. We are especially thankful for all of you, WTVM, AFLAC Broadcast Group, Raycom Media and this great community we live in today."

As we begin an extensive search for a General Manager, WTVM management team and staff will continue to provide the highest quality programming and news coverage you can count on.
