Classes for Spring 2013 IEiYW® Program Begin on May 6; On-the-Job Personal Finance Training Available Statewide to Public and Private-sector Employers

WASHINGTON and DES MOINES, Iowa, March 21, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The award-winning Investor Education in Your Workplace (IEiYW®) program in Iowa will be extended to hundreds of additional employees statewide in May 2013. State employers and private companies in Iowa are currently filling the open slots and anticipate another successful run for the beneficial online classes.   

The Investor Protection Trust and Investor Protection Institute announced today that the 10-week-long IEiYW® program will run from May to August 2013.  Participation will be on a first-come, first-served basis for qualified organizations in Iowa.

The IEiYW® program is an award-winning online financial and investment education program for employers to help educate their employees about long-term savings and investment options such as 401(k), 403(b) or related retirement plans. 

Due to the success of this program, funds have been made available via the nonprofit Investor Protection Trust (www.investorprotection.org) to make the IEiYW® program (valued at $100 per student) available to up to 1,500 participants throughout Iowa.

Interested parties can register for an informational webinar online at http://www.ieiyw.com/webinars. Webinar sessions will be held March 26, April 3 and  April 11 at 2 p.m. Central Time.

The IEiYW program already has been fielded tested nationwide by more than 15,500 employees working at nearly 400 companies.  

ABOUT THE INVESTOR EDUCATION IN YOUR WORKPLACE® PROGRAM
Investor Education in Your Workplace provides financial and investor protection education to individuals in their workplace.  The Investor Protection Trust is collaborating with the Investor Protection Institute, state securities regulators and state credit union associations to provide online investor education and protection curriculum to credit union employees in participating states. The program was piloted with credit union employees and educators in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and North Carolina. The pilot programs have shown strong results including a 27 percent improvement in knowledge for teachers in Wisconsin and a 38 percent and 47 percent improvement in knowledge for credit union employees in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, respectively. The IEiYW program has now been expanded into 14 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico and to additional employer groups.  Course topics include: saving & investing, personal finance, investing basics, investment strategies, investment risks, retirement planning, retirement plan options, mutual funds, financial advisors and putting it all together.
