PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Dozens of Valley kids are volunteering their time every week for people they have never met.

Every weekend, a group of about 30 neighborhood children volunteer to clean up the yards of residents who might have trouble doing it themselves, such as Kathy Wilson.

"We have this little garden here, and it was really in bad shape. They took a lot of rocks out of it and they turned over the dirt to me," Wilson said.

"They were having so much fun and it was just hysterical to watch them and I enjoyed being out there with them while they were doing the work," Wilson said.

Wilson's daughter, Dawn Wilson, who also lives in the neighborhood, wanted to make sure people know about the generous group of youngsters.

Kathy White is the property manager and the cleanup project was her idea.

"We've got great kids. They're not perfect, and I don't want them to be perfect, but they are loving, kind, generous children that if they see something, they stop, they do it," White said.

White hopes this focus on community service at a young age will produce our next senator or maybe even president. For now, these kids have more immediate goals.

"When I see everyone's faces after I help them, it's just, they seem so happy and like, a relief," volunteer Jada Ford said.

"When you see someone who needs help, you should always give them a helping hand," Ford said.
