COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Virginia College in Columbus will host a Friends and Family Easter Open House for the community and former, current and prospective students on Saturday, March 23.

The open house will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be held at the campus located at 5601 Veterans Parkway.

While learning about the educational opportunities available to Columbus-area students at Virginia College, attendees will have the opportunity to help local families in need by bringing non-perishable items to be donated to Feeding the Valley. An Easter egg hunt and other activities will provide fun for the whole family.

"We are excited to host this Friends and Family Easter Open House here at Virginia College in Columbus," says Campus President Beverly Jeffries. "Not only will this event benefit the community of City, but it also gives area residents the opportunity to visit and learn more about our campus. We're calling for all guests to contribute to the canned food drive to help feed families of all ages and backgrounds right here in our own backyard."

Refreshments will be provided to guests, as well as free giveaways, and the opportunity to win door prizes. Attendees will also be able to take a tour of the campus and see demonstrations in all functional areas including medical assisting, computer networking, medical billing and coding, business administration, pharmacy technician and cosmetology.

This event is part of a nationwide effort to support the hungry taking place on 31 campuses in 15 states including Virginia College, Ecotech Institute and Golf Academy of America, all career schools owned by Education Corporation of America.
