AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

The Auburn Police Division has received several recent complaints regarding solicitors operating without a business license or using questionable practices.

Door to door solicitation for items relating to lawn maintenance, magazines, or offering to pave driveways are but a few of the products or services being solicited.

Victims have complained of being quoted a price and then billed for an exorbitant amount after delivery of service(s) or items.

If someone comes to your door soliciting without a city issued business license, or if you believe you are being scammed, please contact police immediately.  Residents are asked to take note of physical descriptions, vehicle information, and directions of travel that may help officers contact the people involved.

Again, and most importantly, contact police immediately.
