(WTVM) -

Injured troops will have an easier time going through airport security.

Starting Wednesday March 27, injured service members and veterans will no longer need to remove their shoes, jackets or hats at security checkpoints.

Those accompanying injured troops and veterans still will have to pass through regular screening.

You must call the military severely injured joint services operations center at (888)262-2396 ahead of time to qualify for the perk or email them at MSIJSOC@dhs.gov.
