Military tuition assistance will not be cut

(WTVM) -

The U.S. military's tuition assistance program will not be suspended after all.

The Department of Defense said Wednesday that it will pick up the tab for all four branches of the military.

The Army, Marines and Air Force had recently suspended their tuition assistance programs due to forced budget cuts.

But Congress passed a government funding bill which prevents the Pentagon from making cuts to the program.

Service members can receive up to $4,500 a year to continue their education.
