TUCSON, AZ (CBS5/AP) -

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer ordered flags to fly at half-staff on Saturday in honor of a Navy SEAL who was killed during a parachute training exercise in southern Arizona.

She said the death of 31-year-old Special Warfare Operator Chief Brett D. Shadle illustrates the risks service members face at home and abroad, whether in combat or training.

She asked Arizona residents to pray for Shadle's family, friends and the other Navy SEAL who was injured in Thursday's accident.

Two Navy SEALs were practicing routine "free-fall" training when the accident occurred about 12:30 p.m. Thursday, said Ken McGraw of the U.S. Special Operations Command.

The accident happened at the U.S. Special Operations Command Parachute Testing and Training Facility at Pinal Airpark in Marana, McGraw said.

Both were taken to University of Arizona Medical Center for treatment. The other SEAL was reported to be in stable condition.

Officials say the accident is under investigation.

Brewer had ordered flags lowered until sunset on Saturday, March 30.
