COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Authorities have confirmed that a shooting on Debby Street in Columbus Friday afternoon has claimed the life of a woman.

Deputy Coroner Freeman Worley tells News Leader  9 that 32 year-old Lakiesha Shoulders was pronounced dead around 1:30pm on Friday afternoon. Neighbors say they heard 6 to 10 gunshots go off in the area. Shoulders was shot 3 times and reportedly collapsed outside of her apartment home.

Police were searching for the suspect in an East Columbus neighborhood near Amber Drive and Mill Branch Road.

We're also told the shooting is connected to Kendrick High and East Columbus being on lockdown earlier today.

The school lockdown was a result of investigators who were looking for a suspect involved in the shooting death of Shoulders on Debby Street in Columbus.
