COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus police have issued an arrest warrant for 37 year-old Robert Junior Taylor in connection with the death of his 32 year-old girlfriend Lakeisha Shoulders.

Shoulders was also the mother of Taylor's 9-month-old daughter.

Police tell News Leader 9 that Taylor shot Shoulders at their home on Debby Street in Columbus Friday afternoon. He then took their daughter to his mother's home and left on foot.

Ron Jackson has lived on Debby Street for the past 3 years. He says while the place has had its share of murders in the past, it isn't a bad place to call home.

"Its  a very nice neighborhood, I've never had any problems and everybody else ain't never had no problem and this right here comes a shock to me," Jackson said.

People living in the area told us they heard several gunshots. While he wasn't home at the time Ron Jackson told us that people have nothing to fear.

"I don't think that nobody is scared, I think that what may have probably happened, it might have been a lovers quarrel you know don't mark me on that because I don't know but ain't nobody scared," Jackson said.

Taylor is currently being charged with murder. Anyone with information regarding this case or the location of the suspect should call Columbus Police at 706-653-3400.
