Monday was a big day for WTVMand local charitable organizations as we announced our first quarter winner forour Give 9 campaign.

The first $5,000 check waspresented Monday afternoon by our sponsor Headquarter Nissan to Animal ArkRescue of Columbus.

The animal rescue group'ssole purpose is to save the lives of dogs and cats by findings them adoptivehomes.

The group received morethan 4,000 votes, and director Sabana Stull is thrilled.

More than 16,000 voteswere cast overall, and our second place winner was the East Alabama HumaneSociety, which received a $500 check from Jarrod's Pest Control.

Now's the time to nominateyour favorite charity for the second quarter.

Our first place winnerwill not be eligible to win again this year.  Just go to the Give 9 section on our website  to nominate and vote for your favorite 501-3organization.
