COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Uptown Columbus, Inc. and Budweiser present a new responsibility program to encourage responsible drinking in Uptown Columbus.

April 5, 2013 kicks off the Grab a Bud Grab a Cab program that will run through December 31, 2013. Uptown Columbus will staff a cabstand every Friday and Saturday Night near the corner of 11th and Broadway where entering patrons who choose to take a cab can enter to win a $25 gift certificate each week to businesses, restaurants, clubs and bars in Uptown Columbus.

The program is sponsored by B & B Beverage Co. on behalf of Budweiser in order to encourage consumers to drink responsibly. A winner will be drawn every Monday.

"We want to encourage folks to come out to Uptown to have a good time, and take a cab home," said Vice President Marketing and Community Relations, Elizabeth Hurst.

The Downtown Nightlife Association is participating in the Grab A Cab Program. DNA, a non-profit organization that promotes nightlife in downtown Columbus and also helps to fund security and safety resources for its patrons in Uptown Columbus.

"We are happy to partner with Uptown Columbus. for this campaign. Our goal is to promote a safe, healthy and fun environment for our patrons. Providing safe and accessible means to get home safely is of the upmost of importance to us," said DNA President, Carmon Coffield.

DNA currently consists of five nightlife establishments, including: The Vault – now Rafter's Bar and Nightclub, Scruffy Murphy's Irish Pub, The Loft, Big City Club and Chaos on the Rocks.
