Posted: Updated:
FORT STEWART, GA (WTVM) -

The Army says three soldiers based at Fort Stewart in Georgia died in a weekend suicide bomb attack in Afghanistan.

The military has identified the three slain soldiers as 24-year-old staff sergeant Christopher Ward, 25-year-old specialist Wilbel Robles-Santa, and 24-year-old specialist Delfin Santos Jr.

The soldiers were among five Americans killed Saturday in a suicide car bombing while delivering textbooks to children in Zabul, Afghanistan.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. Eight Fort Stewart soldiers have died in Afghanistan in the last month.
