COTTONWOOD, AZ (CBS5) -

A 41-year-old man, who police said was a member of a documented gang, came into the hospital and ended up in jail.

The Cottonwood Police Department said 41-year-old Elson Gyce Sr. of Clarkdale was brought in to Verde Valley Medical Center on March 13 for a broken jaw, nose and cuts.

Detectives learned he was a member of a gang and issued an arrest warrant on two counts of aggravated assault based on their investigation.

On April 8, detectives arrested Gyce in the 200 block of East Rodeo Drive and found methamphetamine and marijuana along with drug paraphernalia.

He was booked into the Yavapai County Detention Center and is being held on bond.
