PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Gusty winds, blowing dust and an increased fire danger are some of the weather changes waiting in the wings.

Meteorologists are tracking two approaching weather systems that promise to dig in early this week.

A weather system developing to the north, combined with an approaching cold front, will lead to windy weather during the afternoon and evening hours on Monday, forecasters said.

Breezy to locally windy conditions are expected, with the strongest winds likely to occur over portions of southern Gila county.

The Phoenix area should expect southwest winds between 10 to 20 mph, with some gusts up to 30 mph Monday afternoon and night.

The gusty winds may cause localized dense blowing sand and dust, and will also lead to enhanced fire danger. Breezy to locally windy conditions will persist over the deserts Tuesday into Wednesday.

Some of the strongest gusts Wednesday will be along the lower Colorado River valley, where north winds will increase to around 30 mph during the afternoon hours, meteorologists said.

Temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday will fall into the mid to upper 70s over the deserts in the wake of a passing cold front.
