NOGALES, AZ (CBS5) -

A 34-year-old Mexican national was arrested Tuesday for attempting to smuggle $90,000 in unreported U.S. currency into Mexico through the Dennis DeConcini Port.

Customs and Border Protection officers conducting outbound inspections chose a pickup truck driven by Cesar Olea Vazquez, of Nogales, Sonora, for further inspection.

A CBP narcotics detection K-9 alerted to the presence of illegal contraband.

Officers said they located stacks of currency underneath the front seat. The vehicle and cash were processed for seizure.

Olea is being held on bulk cash smuggling charges by state authorities.
