(CBS5) -

A weekend news anchor for a North Dakota television station was fired after he kicked off his first broadcast with obscenities, but his television career is far from over.

He appeared on the morning network talk circuit and has scheduled an appearance on the CBS Late Show with David Letterman.

A.J. Clemente says on Twitter that KFYR-TV fired him on Monday.

The video of Clemente went viral within hours of being posted.

The station posted an apology on its Facebook page after the incident.

After a commercial break, Clemente's co-anchor Van Tieu apologized during the newscast.

Some viewers were outraged with Clemente's behavior and others are supporters.

Clemente posted on Twitter "That couldn't have gone any worse!"

After his post, the hashtag #KeepAJ started trending.
