MONTGOMERY CO., AL (WSFA) -

Rescue workers on the scene of a cave-in off of Hargrove Road in south Montgomery County have rescued both of two men trapped following the collapse of a construction site near Hope Hull.

Workers were installing concrete footings for use in a future cell phone tower when the hole they were digging collapsed on them. The cave-in rescue effort was being conducted by the Montgomery Fire Department.

The first worker removed from the collapsed site was transported for medical treatment by an emergency helicopter. His injuries are listed as serious but non-life threatening.

Montgomery Fire Officials say the second man was trapped approximately 12 feet underground in a rebar beam cage. He has been rescued from the hole, and also transported by ambulance from the scene.

The men are identified as Austin Leonard and Todd Burnside and they work for Raytex, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.  OSHA is investigating the incident, which is standard procedure.
