ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office and Baton Rouge Police Narcotics detectives arrested New Orleans Voodoo football player Brian K. Coulter on drug and weapons charges.

Coulter is a resident of Baker, LA.

The arrest took place in the parking lot of a business in Ascension Parish. He was in possession of eight pounds of hydroponic marijuana worth $50,000 and a 9mm handgun.

Coulter, 27, was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and illegal carrying of a weapon. He was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail and is awaiting bond.

The Arena Football League (AFL) assigned Coulter to the New Orleans VooDoo on January 25, 2012. Officials with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office say Coulter was active as a player last year.

According to the aflvoodoo.com:

Coulter (6'3" 260 lbs. Missouri) is a native of Baker and lettered two seasons for the Missouri Tigers in 2008-09.  His best season came as a senior when he finished with 48 total tackles (28 solo), 5 for a loss and 2 sacks. 

For his two-year career at Missouri, Coulter played in 25 games and finished with 73 total tackles (32 solo), 13 for a loss, 6 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries.  Coulter started his collegiate career at Pearl River Community College.
