LAKE HAVASU CITY, AZ (AP) -

Lake Havasu police say they saw a surge in spring break arrests this year compared to recent years.

Today's News Herald reports underage drinking violations more than doubled in 2013, with 186, compared to the same period in 2012 and 2011.

Police say hand-in-hand with an influx of people this year, was a near-tripling in disorderly conduct arrests. There were 87 compared to about 30 in each of the previous two years.

Police spokesman Sgt. Troy Stirling tells the paper "underage consumption arrests really went up this year."

More than 70 people were arrested for drug offenses, twice the 2012 figure. Police attribute that increase to a crackdown on drug crime.

DUI arrests actually ticked lower with 29, compared to around 30 the previous two years.
