TEMPE, AZ (CBS5) -

The spring semester is wrapping up at Arizona State University, and students will soon be stripping down for a good cause.

The ASU Undie Run is the school's biggest end of the year tradition where tens of thousands of ASU students celebrate the last day of class by taking off their clothes, donating them to charity and then running half-naked around the Tempe campus.

The cost to enter is the clothing you're wearing and two cans of food.

The run starts at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, at 500 E. Rio Salado Parkway in Tempe.

The ASU Undie Run Coalition said tradition began in 2008 with more than 5,000 runners. In 2012, the number of runners had tripled.
