Valley teen who brought AK-47 to school won’t be tried as adult

VALLEY, AL (WTVM) -

The 16-year-old Valley High School student who police say brought an AK-47 to school will not be charged as an adult.

Police say there is no indication he had any intention of using this AK-47 in a school shooting.

The assault weapon was found during a routine drug sweep of the high school last month.

The teen told investigators he had the rifle in his trunk for personal protection and it was given to him by a relative.
