MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Montgomery Police say they are pursuing strong leads 24 hours after a man was shot and killed in front of a residence in the 900 block of Alexander Street.

At this time, no arrests have been made. However, police say their initial investigation indicated the homicide is drug related.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1. Authorities were called to the scene of a subject shot in the 900 block of Alexander Street. When they arrived on the scene they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries. 

At this time the victim's identity is being withheld pending the notification of his immediate family.

Police ask individuals with knowledge of this homicide to call CrimeStoppers at 215-STOP, Secret Witness at 262-4000, or the Montgomery Police Department at 625-2831.

This was Montgomery's 22nd homicide of 2013.
