MUSCOGEE COUNTY, GA (WTVM) -

We want to congratulate Kim Lester on being named the 2013 Muscogee County Teacher of the Year!

Lester received the award at the Muscogee Educational Excellence Foundation's Gala for 59 Teacher of the Year honorees.

Lester has been teaching English, reading, writing and social studies at Britt David Magnet Academy since 2010. She says she is honored to be selected.

Lester previously taught at Downtown Elementary and South Columbus Elementary. She will receive $5,000 and a billboard for the honor.

WTVM General Manager Lee Brantley served as the emcee for Thursday night's event.

Brenda Howell of Hardaway High School and Ellen Lane of Gentian Elementary School were also finalists for the honor.

Congratulations to Kim for receiving this honor, and congratulations to Brenda and Ellen for their nominations! Thank you to all Muscogee County Teachers for your hard work.
