Pedestrian struck by vehicle on U.S. 231 in Wetumpka

WETUMPKA, AL (WSFA) -

Authorities are confirming to WSFA 12 News that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Thursday afternoon on U.S. Highway 231 in Wetumpka.

Wetumpka police confirm the collision happened across the street from the Captain Ds restaurant.

A medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene.

Authorities could not identify the victim, nor could they give any details regarding their condition or how the accident took place.

U.S. Hwy. 231 is one of the busiest roads in the area.

WSFA 12 News has a crew on the scene.

    Fire crews responded to a fire at a residence on Washington Avenue Wednesday morning.  According to Fire Chief Ricky Shores, four units burned, which displaced four families. The families were home at the time of the fire, but no one was injured.
