In the midst of a shower of controversy and the rain itself. The Baconton Charter and Turner County baseball teams had some unfinished business from Saturday's GHSA Class A public playoff series.

The situation was this, with the series tied at one game a piece, game 3 was suspended because of rain in extra innings with Turner County at bat.

On Monday, Baconton's Tabor Raley struggled with his location and walked three batters to load the bases.  One batter was walked intentionally.  That was when Turner County's Kendall Kicklighter stepped to the plate and sent a deep ball over to a vacant right field for the win .  Both the Baconton infield and outfield was pulled in.

Kicklighter gave the Rebels the 5-4 win in 8 innings sending Turner County to what coach Casey Soliday says is the team's first Final 8 appearance in school history.

"The good thing was we had three seniors up and that's what they talked about. They kept on saying the three seniors got to take care of business and they did. We had two of them get on base. We had a freshman come up a draw a walk and then we had a big hit by a junior. He had been struggling but he'd been coming on and he had the big hit right there to win the game for us," said Soliday.

The Rebels will now play at Gordon Lee in the second round of the state playoffs on Wednesday.
