ASU and VSU softball teams to meet in Regionals

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Conference champions Valdosta State and Albany State awaited their first round national tournament regional match ups only to find out they'll be playing each other. 

ASU and VSU will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Blazers Park in Valdosta.  The Lady Blazers are the number one seed the South Region, Albany State ranked 8th.

VSU has held ASU to just 4 runs in the their 12 games dating back to 2011.  After losing its opening round match-up to Fort Valley State University, Albany State, won seven consecutive games, which included a sweep of Miles College, to claim its first SIAC Championship since 2010.

One of the top hitting teams in Division II with 67 home runs for the season, Albany State will make its fifth appearance in the Division II Regionals.
