COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Imagine if you left your home to head to school or work this morning, and when you returned there was spray paint all over your car.

That is what happened to an entire Columbus neighborhood Monday night. The clean up continued through Tuesday and police are looking for their suspect.

It all started overnight in the area of Waverly and Peabody Avenue in Columbus.

It appears dozens fell victim -- and we spoke with one of them who spent his entire morning cleaning paint off of his car.

"I got the most colors out of the neighborhood there's like five different colors on there and scrubbing it off took the clear coat off of my paint job so hopefully I can get it buffed out," said Joshua Earl. "But I got three kids I'm scared to go outside and bring my kids outside because you never know what's going to happen."

Joshua Earl says even though the spray paint has now been cleaned off of his car, he will still have to spend more money to fix his paint job underneath.

We spoke with police who say there isn't much that can be done to prevent this from happening -- but the best thing to do is be vigilant and call 911 if you see anything or have any information about this crime.
