Our editorial last week focusing on Eastdale Mall's new Friday and Saturday night policy of not allowing those under the age of 18 into the mall without adult supervision drew almost unanimous praise. Here are a few responses received on wsfa.com and our WSFA 12 News station Facebook page:
"I definitely consider this a positive change for the mall. It may be too little, too late though to save Eastdale as many shoppers have already voted with their feet and found other retail centers like Eastchase to do business with. This policy should have been enacted long ago."
Another responded, "This move may prevent Eastdale Mall from the same fate as Montgomery Mall. Had this been done a number of years ago, some who once shopped in Montgomery might not be shopping elsewhere--i.e. Birmingham, Dothan, Columbus, Prattville, etc."
And finally, "I'm glad the Mall is taking this action. You'll find that a lot of the youth hanging out at the mall, without adult or parental supervision can be quite disrespectful to business owners and some of the patrons. Times have changed and so have our youth! This is a step in the right direction."
As always, we encourage and appreciate your feedback.
