PHOENIX (CBS5) -

This week is National Police Week, and in memory of her fallen husband, one Valley woman is going on the ride of a lifetime.

Sharon Knutson-Felix is the executive director of the 100 Club, an organization that provides assistance to the law enforcement community and their families. Knutson-Felix's husband was working for DPS in 1998 when he was killed while assisting an abandoned vehicle off Scottsdale Road and the Loop 202.

She's now joining nearly 2,000 other cyclists on a 250-mile trip called the "Police Unity Tour" in honor of her late husband.

"To bring awareness to officers and officers' deaths and how they're willing to put their lives on the line to protect and serve the community," Knutson-Felix said.

The riders will start in Virginia and end in Washington, DC, three days later.
