SPANISH FORT, AL (WSFA) -

A Spanish Fort student is hoping to doodle her way to a $30,000 college scholarship and a $50,000 technology grant for her school with the help of the doodle masters, Google.

Google recently asked K-12 students in the U.S. to redesign its homepage logo to reflect "My Best Day Ever…"

The winner gets to see their artwork appear as Google's doodle on the Google homepage. And, they win a $30,000 college scholarship and a $50,000 technology grant for their school.

A 3rd grader at Spanish Fort Elementary School, 9-year-old Ridley Varden, hopes her best day ever that was full of dancing, friends, and flowers will make the cut.

Varden has already taken home the top prize for the state of Alabama. Now she's up for the national prize - and she needs help to be a national finalist. She needs your vote.

You can vote for Ridley at www.doodle4google.com. Ridley's drawing is listed in the K-3 division - but she's competing against all age divisions. Voting ends on Friday, May 10 - each person can vote up to five times.

The National Winner's doodle will be featured on Google's homepage on May 23, 2013. Each of the four National Finalists will win a $5,000 educational grant to be used at the school of their choice.
