Crisp sweeps way to State Quarterfinals, other area baseball scores

CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

The Crisp County Cougars are the only team left carrying the torch for Southwest Georgia in the Class AAAA playoffs.

They made sure that torch would make it one more round Wednesday.

Robert Tyler and the Cougars made quick work of the Statesboro Blue Devils in Game 1, 12-2 in five innings.

In Game 2, Landon Whitman was dealing on the mound, not allowing a run or hit over 3 innings of work.

The Cougars jumped on SHS early again on their way to a 13-1 win in five innings.

Now, the Cougars will host the winner of Northwest Whitfield and Stephens County in the state quarterfinals next week.
