Damascus Way Home receives extreme makeover

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Many realtors from all over the valley were not selling houses Thursday, but fixing one up instead.

Keller Williams Realty is working to give the Damascus Way Home for Women and Children in Columbus an extreme makeover.

Every May they celebrate RED Day, which stands for Renew, Energize and Donate, and this year more than 50 local Keller Williams agents are celebrating it at Damascus Way.

We spoke to Tracy Dean, one of the realtors dedicating their day to this project, who tells us she has been looking forward to it.

"The idea of giving back and the help that we can give people, it's incredible to be able to do that and the warmth that it gives each and every one of us is pretty cool," Dean said.

Keller Williams along with some of their vendors will paint 13 rooms, repair bathrooms, refurbish picnic tables, create a tetherball court and basketball goal, and create and paint closet inserts.

They will replace 23 mattresses with new bed coverings -- and several car loads of donated items for the women and children have already been delivered.
