COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The Goodwill Columbus Success Center is working to help local people find a job.

At the center located off Macon Road behind Cross Country Plaza they are hosting a job and resource fair in buildings A, B and E until 2 p.m. Friday.

They are doing this in celebration of Annual Goodwill Week.

About 37 employers and resources will be on-site offering services and employment opportunities.

We spoke with Tiffany Nabors, the communications specialist for Goodwill, who explains the positive impact this fair can have.

"Every time a person goes to work and they have a sustainable wage that contributes to the local economy because it means that not only can they take care of themselves and their family but they can also go out and contribute to the flow of money that's going through our community - and that benefits everybody," Nabors said.

At this same event last year Goodwill had almost 500 job seekers show up, and this year they plan to pass that number.

In 2012 Goodwill's Success Services and Training Centers placed more than 3,000 people in South Georgia and East Alabama into jobs – that equates to an economic impact of more than $52 million.
