Parking problems in Uptown Columbus

Finding a place to park in Uptown Columbus can be a challenge but that's all about to change.

The city held its final public forum on the uptown parking study at the River Center Thursday night.

An outside company was called in to make observations and suggest possible plans to improve parking in uptown.

Deputy city manager Lisa Goodwin says these changes should solve an age old parking problem.

"I think the proposed recommendations that we have brought...we're bringing forward...are some low-hanging fruit," said Goodwin. "Some things that I think we can do right now though that will make a difference in some parking conditions in uptown."

Goodwin says in order for people to utilize the parking garage, ticket fees for parking along the streets would have to increase.

Those fees could increase by up to $15. These changes won't happen until the proposal is brought before council and approved.
