Eggs, chickens and cooking oil used to vandalize Bullock Co. High School

UNION SPRINGS, AL (WSFA) -

Bullock County High School was closed Wednesday after school officials discovered that the facility had been trashed. Superintendent Keith Stewart made the cancellation announcement.

Custodian Willie Everett had his day cut out for him when he pulled in the parking lot to unlock the school's doors. "Garbage everywhere," he explained.

A walk through the campus revealed cooking oil and eggs smeared on the walls, windows and floors. The school's lawn was in disarray. Amid the hay were two live chickens walking around the school's main hall.

The vandals skipped the classrooms and the office and there are no reports of anything missing, except for the students. A full day of learning and mandatory testing were canceled.

"We have a responsibility to educate children," Superintendent Stewart said, calling the ordeal "really disheartening".

It wasn't immediately known who did the vandalism or if they just considered it a senior prank. Superintendent Stewart said it was too early to tell. What he is sure of though is that charges will be pressed against those found responsible.

The Bullock County Sheriff's Office and Union Springs Police Department are investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, cleaning crews are working to clean the mess. School leaders say classes will be in session Thursday.
