TUCSON, AZ (AP) -

A 22-year-old convenience store clerk in Tucson is hospitalized in critical condition after being found early Friday with life-threatening injuries after being stabbed.

Police say a customer found the wounded clerk at about 1 a.m. and call 911.

The incident was initially reported as an armed robbery but Sgt. Chris Widmer says police now don't think it was connected to a robbery.

The assailant reportedly fled on fight.

Police have only a vague description of the attacker, saying he was a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt.
