COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Children's Tree House Child Advocacy Center in Columbus hosted the grand opening of its new SANE room for child victims of abuse and neglect.
SANE, which stands for sexual assault nurse examiner, is a program which provides forensic sexual medical exams for victims of suspected sexual abuse.
The official ribbon cutting ceremony was held Thursday at the newly renovated space located on 9th Street.
We spoke with the director of Children's Tree House, Amy Braley, about why having the SANE program is so important for the community.
Funding for the SANE room project is from the United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley, the Junior League of Columbus and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
