Fire on Royal Caribbean ship cuts vacations short

(WTVM) -

For the third time this year, a mechanical failure has disrupted a tropical vacation for thousands of cruise ship passengers.

This time a fire broke out in the wee hours of Memorial Day on Royal Caribbean's "Grandeur of the Seas" cruise. Passengers were left fearing for their lives.

As Andrew Spencer reports, passengers on board turned to social media to report that some people were fainting and vomiting.

Royal Caribbean canceled the rest of the voyage and is flying passengers from Freeport, Bahamas to Baltimore, MD where the ship left port on Friday for a seven night cruise.

The coast guard and the National Transportation Safety Board will now investigate.
