COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A record number of moms are bringing home the bacon.
A Pew Research Center study shows mothers are the primary breadwinners in 40% of households.
That's a drastic change from 1960, when it was just 11%.
The "breadwinner moms" are made up of two groups: the married mothers who make more than their husbands, and single mothers.
The study attributes the change to more women in the workplace, but not everyone thinks it's a good thing: 50% of those surveyed said the increasing number of women working outside the home makes it harder to have a successful marriage.
