White Water Express boosts business near the Chattahoochee

(WTVM) -

The grand opening of White Water rafting was a boost for business near the Chattahoochee this weekend.

Scott Ressmeyer of Country's Barbeque saw a tremendous amount of customers.

"The river had a phenomenal impact on our business," said Ressmeyer. "Normally on Saturdays, it's usually dead, but it ended being a tremendous success. We had three times a guests that would've normally come in."

Katie Bishop, marketing specialist for White Water Express, believes the attraction will continue to help the local businesses in our area.

"Serving the community was something we always did from the beginning," she says. "We didn't expect it to do this well. We are so proud they got so much business, and I hope this trend continues into the future."

Over 1,000 people showed up in Columbus over Memorial Day weekend.

Bishop also says they are open seven days a week, offering five trips per day.
