Snyder Freeway reopened after deadly wrong way crash

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Traffic is flowing again in the southbound lanes of the Gene Snyder Freeway at Shelbyville Road (U.S. 60) after a fatal crash involving a wrong way driver.

According to Louisville Metro Police, the crash happened around 4:15 a.m. Thursday. Investigators said the driver of a white pickup truck was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of the Snyder when he struck another car head on.

The driver of the car that was hit was killed. The driver of the pickup was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.

After being closed for much of the morning rush hour, the southbound Snyder and the on ramp from Shelbyville Road were reopened to traffic around 8:20 a.m.

The names of those involved have not been released.
