Real estate on the rise, vacant property issue expected to improve

(WTVM) -

Columbus has several empty buildings in the area, but with property sales on the rise, real estate agents are saying the issue will improve.

Murray Calhoun, President of Flournoy & Calhoun Realtors, recognizes that vacant properties can be a threat, but he is not worried.

"If neighbors check-up on in and work together, it shouldn't be that bad," he says.

Calhoun says that vacant warehouses are sold a lot more than vacant houses these days. He believes this is a great trend, and hopes to see sales of empty houses rise as well.

The best way to prevent issues that might occur in vacant buildings for neighbors keep their eye on the area and call the police if they see anything suspicious.
