Portion of White Water closed, but not due to safety concerns

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

A portion of the new white water rafting course has been closed to the public.

The big wave known as Cut Bait has been closed for evaluation after several rafts toppled over the weekend. There were no injuries during any of these incidents.

Richard Bishop, President of Uptown Columbus Inc, says it is not closed for a safety issue. Bishop emphasizes they are simply "reevaluating the situation."

Tours are still running, but they are not going through the Cut Bait section. Bishop says that section of the rapids should re-open in the next week.
