16 films will play at Springer this summer

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Springer will show 16 different movies over four weekends this summer in the Crowley Film Series.

The movies will run at 7 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and at 2 p.m. Saturdays the weekends of June 6-8, June 20-22, July 11-13 and July 18-20. The genres of movies shown will run the gamut, including classic films, westerns, comedies, suspense and children's movies.

Here is the list of films showing this summer:

*"Pulp Fiction," 7 p.m., June 7, rated R

*"E.T. the Extra-Terrestial," 2 p.m., June 8, rated PG

*"Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," 7 p.m., June 8, rated R

*"The Good, the Bad and the Ugly," 7 p.m. June 20, rated R

* "Young Frankenstein," 7 p.m. June 21, rated PG

*"Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," 2 p.m. June 22, rated G

*"Breakfast at Tiffany's," 7 p.m. June 22, rated G

*"Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark," 7 p.m. July 11, rated PG

*"The Big Lebowski," 7 p.m. July 12, rated R

*"The Princess Bride," 2 p.m. July 13, rated PG

*"Some Like It Hot," 7 p.m. July 13, rated PG

*"Rear Window," 7 p.m. July 18, rated PG

*"The Shining," 7 p.m. July 19, rated R

*"The Goonies," 2 p.m. July 20, rated PG

*"Swingers," 7 p.m. July 20, rated R.

"Do try to make it to the Springer summer movies. Do or do not, there is no try," said Scott Crowley, sponsor of the movies at the Springer and a fan of Yoda from the Star Wars movies.

The Springer will host a trivia contest prior to show time. The movies start at 7 p.m. and the trivia will start at 6 p.m. in the Springer Saloon. The Saloon will also be open for refreshments, snacks and, of course, popcorn.

Tickets are $10 and $8 for children and students.
