COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Lights…Camera…Action!

Based on the most successful video game in the world, Need for Speed will film Tuesday on the 13th Street Bridge.

People in Columbus will get to experience a piece of Hollywood this week and Mayor Teresa Tomlinson spoke about her excitement for the movie and its economic impact.

Mayor Tomlinson says economic development impact is like three 200 person conventions coming to town.

The 13th Street bridge will be closed Tuesday from 6 a.m. until noon this Saturday, meaning folks driving will have to watch out for traffic changes.

People can catch a glimpse of a crazy car race from the downtown area and watch a crash over the bridge into the river below. Mayor Tomlinson says big film companies now see mid-size cities as better location for movies than big cities nowadays.

"You know it's interesting," said Mayor Tomlinson, "the world is changing and mid-size cities are becoming more desirable to do business in and do stuff in because they are much more negotiable. It's easier to film movies here than in Atlanta, because it is possible for us to shut down a bridge."

Big energy and excitement will take over Columbus this week and Mayor Tomlinson said she's also excited to see local businesses thrive from this opportunity.
