Seven victims related in single SUV fatal crash

A family of cousins, aunts, a mother and her son were coming from Panama City Beach, Florida Sunday afternoon when things went all too wrong.  It's a trip they all get together and take every year during the summer, but this time, their annual beach trip ended with unbelievable pain.

Katereia Robinson, 16, and her buddy and cousin 15-year-old Chelsea Tolbert loved hanging out together. Their last girl outing to the beach came to a tragic end.

"It's rough. It's a tragedy. We were all related," explained Katereia's brother-in-law Joe Davis. Davis said he actually saw the accident scene on Highway 431 in Seale as he was heading to Phenix City.

"I didn't go up there, but I knew everyone in the car."

What Davis didn't know at the time is those were his seven family members whose red Envoy had driven off the bridge and plunged onto a ravine, killing three, including 15-year-old Darius Washington and injuring 4 others.

Joann Robinson Bellamy, 58, is in critical condition at the Medical Center while her son 17-year-old Kelsey Bellamy was listed in unsatisfactory condition. The youngest victim, 9-year-old Tramain Evans,  is in critical condition at Eggleston's Children Hospital in Atlanta.

Alabama State Troopers told News Leader 9's Roslyn Giles all of the passengers were wearing seatbelts.

The driver, 37-year-old Marvin Alexander, reportedly struck a guardrail and lost control of the wheel. No word on his condition, but authorities say speed played a role in the unimaginable accident that left so many family members hurt.
