Gulf Shores reopens beaches after drownings

(WTVM) -

Beaches along Alabama's Gulf Coast have reopened after being under restricted conditions following a handful of drownings.

Gulf Shores officials posted red flags on all beaches in the city on Monday, but as of Tuesday those flags have turned yellow.

The city said in a statement that water conditions might not appear life-threatening, but underlying rip currents posed a significant risk to anyone entering the gulf.

Four men from Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky, and Louisiana drowned in the dangerous rip currents in a matter of 24 hours between Sunday and Monday.
