Things to do around Columbus this weekend, June 14-16

From live music and comedy shows to a berry-picking festival and welcoming the Miss Georgia Pageant contestants, there is so much to be a part of in Columbus from June 14 to 16. Here are a few ideas for an active, out-and-about weekend. Click the hyperlinks for more information.

In Uptown Columbus, Saturday starts off with Market Days on Broadway from 9 a.m. to noon, with vendors selling everything from crafts to baked goods and farm fresh produce. The Columbus Artists' Guild's 2013 Member Show will also be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Later in the evening, there will be a Pajama Run and Concert to welcome the Miss Georgia Pageant contestants. Big Woody and the Splinters will be performing on the Uptown stage at 8 p.m. The concert is free, and will be the last show of the Uptown Concert Series for the season.

At The Loft, the weekend entertainment starts Friday night with the AJ Ghent Band performing for Friday Night Jazz @ the Loft. Saturday night is Comedy Night, with stand-up performances from Ron Feingold and John Charles, followed by a live musical performance. Tickets for Comedy Night should be ordered in advance.

Have you tried the new Whitewater rafting course yet? 

Just in time for Father's Day, the National Infantry Museum is honoring Take Your Daughter to the Range Day on Saturday. At the EST2000 Rifle Ranger, daughters shoot free with the purchase of a ticket round when you show them this flyer.

Columbus Museum will be hosting Family Art Affair on Saturday afternoon, as well as Drop-In Tours featuring several inspiring exhibits.

Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center will feature Author Carroll Taylor reading excerpts from her new book, Chinaberry Summer on Saturday.

Riverside Theatre Complex will present a live performances of both Seussical! and The Cat in the Hat on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

For an adventure out of town and into the country, The Rock Ranch is having a Blackberry Festival Saturday. The event has free admission. Guests are welcome to pick and purchase fresh blackberries, along with other festivities.

Columbus Civic Center is hosting the Big Boy Toys Father's Day Extravaganza on Saturday.

For an option to get out of the summer heat, Columbus Ice Skating Rink is open for public skating from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.  

And, in case you haven't heard yet, Davis Broadcasting's 27th Annual Family Day in the Park is this Saturday as well.  It's a Columbus tradition!
