World population predicted to increase by more than a billion people by 2025

(WTVM) -

A new UN report is forecasting the world's population will increase by more than a billion people by the year 2025.

The world's population today is 7.2 billion. By 2050 it's forecasted that the world population will increase to 9.6 billion people.

The report released said most of the population growth will occur in developing regions.

The report said much of the overall increase between now and 2050 is expected to take place in Africa and developing countries with large populations such as India, Indonesia, Pakistan, the Philippines and the United States.
